Kamil Duszenko Award for outstanding achievements in Mathematics

The Kamil Duszenko Award is granted for outstanding work or research that has significantly contributed to the deepening of knowledge and further progress in the field of mathematics.


The organiser of the Award is Wrocław Mathematicians Foundation. The delegates to the Award Committee are appointed by: the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Wrocław, the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Central Committee of the Mathematical Olympiad and the Board of the Wrocław Mathematicians Foundation.


The Award, of between €2,500-€5,000, is granted at least every two years, starting in 2015. The Award Committee decided that in 2015 the amount of the Award will be set at 3,000 EUR.


Each Award will focus on a specific area of mathematics, which for the period 2015-2025 will be ‘Geometric group theory’.


Candidates cannot apply but can only be nominated by a person of recognised standing in mathematics. The Committee appoints experts in the chosen area to form a jury to assess the work of the candidates and choose a winner. Their decision is final.


In the year in which the Award is organised, nominations have to be in in February, the nominees’ work to be assessed has to be delivered in March and the winner will be announced in May.
