Kamil Duszenko Award for outstanding achievements in Hematology


The aim of the Kamil Duszenko Award is to recognize and reward individuals, whose research in haematology, have contributed to the deepening of knowledge as well as cognitive and therapeutic perspectives in this field.

The organiser of the Award is Lower Silesia Foundation for the Helthcare Development (Dolnośląska Fundacja Rozwoju Ochrony Zdrowia). The delegates to the Award Committee are: President of the Foundation and Director of the Institute of Haematology and Transfusion Medicine in Warsaw (Instytut Hematologii i Transfuzjologii w Warszawie), who appoints additional three persons to the Committee.

The Award, of 40,000 PLN (approx. €10,000), is granted every four years, starting in 2016.

Each Award will focus on a specific field of haematology, which for the Award granted in 2016, was ‘Cancers of the lymphatic system’ and for the Award granted since 2020 is "Cancers of the hematopoietic and lymphatic system". More about the application 2024 can be found here.

The Winner of the Award in 2016 was Dr. Maciej Szydłowski.  Szydłowski. The Winner of the Award in 2020 was Prof. Sebastian Geibel.

Candidates in 2024 can apply for the Award before 31st August 2024. To enter the competition the candidate have to use this application form and read carefully Regulations before they apply for the Award. The Committee can appoint additional experts in the chosen area to form a Jury to assess the work of the candidates and choose a winner. Their decision is final.
