Kamil Duszenko Award for outstanding achievements in Hematology
The aim of the Kamil Duszenko Award is to recognize and reward individuals, whose research in haematology, have contributed to the deepening of knowledge as well as cognitive and therapeutic perspectives in this field.
The organiser of the Award is Lower Silesia Foundation for the Helthcare Development (Dolnośląska Fundacja Rozwoju Ochrony Zdrowia). The delegates to the Award Committee are: President of the Foundation and Director of the Institute of Haematology and Transfusion Medicine in Warsaw (Instytut Hematologii i Transfuzjologii w Warszawie), who appoints additional three persons to the Committee.
The Award, of 40,000 PLN (approx. €10,000), is granted every four years, starting in 2016.
Each Award will focus on a specific field of haematology, which for the Award granted in 2016, was ‘Cancers of the lymphatic system’ and for the Award granted in 2020 is "Cancers of the hematopoietic and lymphatic system". More about the application 2020 can be found here.
The Winner of the Award in 2016 was Dr. Maciej Szydłowski.
Candidates in 2020 can apply for the Award before 31st May 2020. To enter the competition the candidate have to use this application form and read carefully Regulations before they apply for the Award. The Committee can appoint additional experts in the chosen area to form a Jury to assess the work of the candidates and choose a winner. Their decision is final.
In the year in which the Award is organised the winner will be announced in May.
The winner is obliged
to deliver a guest lecture in the Institute of Haematology and Transfusion Medicine in Warsaw, and
deliver a guest lecture at the scientific congress organised by Polish Society of Haematologists and Transfusion Medicine Specialists.
Travel and accommodation costs are covered by the Foundation.
